Lines a and b are parallel lines if they never intersect and have the same slope. When a transversal, such as line f, intersects parallel lines a and b, corresponding angles will be congruent, alternate interior angles will be congruent, and alternate exterior angles will be congruent. This property is known as the Transversal Theorem.
